The technology is unique in its ability to penetrate the dermis and the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) layer. No other technology can target these layers deep within the skin in a non-invasive procedure. SMAS is the same layer which is tightened during conventional facelift surgery. Unlike surgery, HIFU is more affordable and requires no time off work.

HIFU uses multiple beams of ultrasound. Individually the beams do not affect the tissue. However, their area of convergence under the skin becomes a point of thermal energy. Heating the tissue below the surface causes it to contract and tighten, while also forming new collagen fibres.

Collagen proteins begin to lose their integrity with age, which causes frown lines, crow’s feet, and a drooping neck. Tightening the SMAS layer and replenishing collagen will tighten and tone the skin.
